Reinvent Your Desktop

Are you unorganized? Do you find yourself struggling to find things on your cluttered desktop? If you can answer yes to either of these questions above then BumpTop is for you.

BumpTop lets you place your files into piles which eliminate the use of browsing through folder after folder trying to find one file. BumpTop also gives you a room look where you have four walls and a floor letting you pin sticky notes on the wall or even putting icons onto the wall, it is like using four different desktops on one screen. It also has a Facebook and Twitter feature where you can drag and literally throw pictures directly into your Facebook or Twitter page to upload them. You can send tweets from your desktop also.

BumpTop lets you either fan through you piles, flip through the files in a pile like a deck of cards, or place the files in a grid to make viewing your files faster and easier than ever before. You just do about anything with BumpTop. There are so many more features available with BumpTop, you will just have to try it to figure it out.

Here is a link to a really good video that demonstrates BumpTop:

Second Generation of Web Development

You have heard about it for quite some time now, but do you really know what it is? . It is because of Web 2.0 that I am even able to bring this information forth to you in this blog. It is because of Web 2.0 that you are able to log into your Myspace page or your MyWindowsPC page. If it wasn’t for Web 2.0 there would be no Twitter or no Friendfeed. Facebook would just be a mere idea that people would consider “farfetched”.

The term was first used by Craig Cline and Dale Dougherty and then it became notable shortly after the O Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004. The term refers to the ways software developers and end-users utilize the World Wide Web.

Web 2.0 is a great interactive tool. Nowadays it's hard to find someone who doesn’t use some sort of account on a Web 2.0 site. A lot of Universities are now even using Web 2.0 in order to reach out and engage with Generation Y and other students.

It has also been said that it lacks “business models”. In other words, some people see it as ruining the web because people use to go onto the internet and use it for school resources to do their homework. Now they go on the internet to do homework and get sidetracked by going to Myspace, Facebook, YouTube, etc. In my opinion, if you are going to get mad about Web 2.0 and criticize it then don’t use Web 2.0 tools like blogs to blog about how stupid you think it is. If you don’t like it, don’t use it.

In conclusion, Web 2.0 is a fantastic improvement to the Web. It helps people become more knowledgeable about the world through blogs. I believe that it helps people learn more and makes it easier to find information. If you need to write a report on Dolphins then instead of going to ten different websites trying to find information for your first paragraph you can subscribe to a blog about Dolphins and find hundreds of entries in minutes. Technology is taking over and instead of complaining get involved.
